Passive Practices
The goal of Westernized yoga has, for many, become another form of physical exertion. While active vinyasa practices are certainly beneficial for lots of reasons, balance your experience with these gentle and rejuvenating styles. Here you’ll focus on calming the nervous system, through breath and guided relaxation.
Yoga Nidra
The Yoga Nidra classes offered at our top Denver studio will enhance your vinyasa yoga practice, by providing contrast to your movement-based practices. In our studio, we encourage you to take your practice at your own pace. Yoga Nidra classes are a great stepping stone on the journey to anxiety relief and stress reduction.
If you are looking for a relaxing, meditative form of yoga to improve the functions within the temple that is your body, our Yoga Nidra classes in Denver, CO, can help you. Our patient, gentle instructors are specially certified and guide you to your body’s natural state of peace and relaxation through progressive, guided relaxation
Yin Yoga
A lot of the yoga practiced in modern studios is what’s known as “yang” styles of yoga—vigorous, fast-paced classes like vinyasa, power, and Ashtanga. “Yin” Yoga is the opposite: slow-paced, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine
Find quiet, contemplation and stillness in Yin style yoga, where students hold poses for 3-5 minutes, or longer, to reach the body’s deepest connective tissues -- ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks of the body – rather than the muscles (which are the physical focus of “Yang” yoga practices).
Healing Properties of Yoga Nidra Practice
Yoga Nidra (sleep yoga) is an ancient yoga practice that activates your body’s relaxation state and relieves stress. Our Yoga Nidra classes also serve to improve endocrine function and help your hormones flow in their natural, optimal state.
Practicing Yoga Nidra also improves your nervous system activation, allowing for completely natural meditative peace and anxiety relief.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative style yoga promotes emotional, mental and physical relaxation. It is practiced at a slow pace, focusing on long supported holds, stillness, and breathing, fully supported by blankets, bolsters, blocks and any other “props” to help the practitioner settle into complete comfort.
The effort for Restorative yoga is in the willingness to notice how and where one is holding tension and to relax one’s body fully so the tension found can be released. All levels welcome. Reiki Restorative adds the healing energy work.
Between Wake and Sleep States
Yoga Nidra classes introduce the state of being between waking consciousness and your sleep cycle. The slow, chill progression into meditation in this “in-between” state has a multitude of nervous system and endocrine system benefits.
If your body has been burnt out by exhaustion, stress, and anxiety, Yoga Nidra classes are the cool drink of water your spirit may need at this time.
