SAMADHI FAQs

New to Samadhi Yoga Sangha?

Samadhi Yoga Sangha is a community who believes that mindful, yoga-based programming has the power to enrich lives and strengthen connections.  We offer yoga classes, workshops and special events, basic and advanced Yoga Teacher Training and retreats in the heart of Denver, Colorado.

We offer a variety of yoga classes and welcome students from diverse backgrounds, age groups, body types, abilities and experience levels. There’s most certainly a class for anyone who’s drawn to learning more about the power of this practice.

Is Samadhi Yoga under new ownership?

Samadhi opened under new ownership, with similar management, committed to preserving the familiar feelings and traditions Samadhi is known for. Our re-envisioned mission, in its broadest sense, is to co-create a community where students are willing to be authentic in mind, body, and spirit… and to bring that authenticity into the world.

Emelia Nidel continues as Director of the studio, and can be reached at samadhiheart@gmail.com.

Samadhi Center for Yoga which previously operated in the same Uptown Denver location for the past two decades, is permanently closed.

Are there still multiple Samadhi locations?

We are back to our roots, with one location that is hOMe to two exquisite studio rooms (Buddha and Lakshmi) on East 19th Ave & Pearl Street in Uptown Denver.

What makes Samadhi Yoga Sangha unique?

You will find aspects of Samadhi Yoga Sangha that differ from other studios and you may wonder why we have chosen to do things in certain ways.  In the spirit of building our yoga community together, we’d like to openly share our values with you:

We are driven by a core belief in the benefits of community, yoga and mindfulness.  In our experience, this trifecta provides meaningful ways to create supportive connections, through life’s ups and downs, which ultimately inspire joy.  Samadhi is a business, yet for us this isn’t about maximizing profits or competing with other studios. Rather, it’s about being true to our purpose by offering paths toward physical and spiritual wellness, while providing people a  sense of belonging. In these ways, Samadhi leaders, administrators, instructors and students together aim to positively impact the world around us.

We acknowledge that we are learning as we regrow, and we promise to listen to feedback, be open and evolve along the way, while staying true to our core beliefs. Please click here to send us an email with your thoughts and feedback!

Will the new Samadhi have the same style of classes, energy and instructors as before?

Yes. Our seasoned Samadhi teachers and management, along with new owner, instructors and staff, are all committed to honoring the history and traditions that were cornerstone to our service to the Denver Yoga Community. As we relaunch, you will find many familiar faces, classes and “vibes.” We sense you’ll join us in welcoming new friends, who we trust will bring refreshing energy and excitement to our sanctuary in the city.

How does Samadhi membership work?

Our membership model is simple: $118/month. This includes unlimited yoga classes, access to an exclusive on demand video library (coming soon), member discounts on retail, workshops, retreats, special events, and more perks over time. Attending just two classes per week covers the cost of monthly membership, and we know you’ll want to take many more!  Membership can be canceled any time with 30 days notice. Sign-up now!

What if membership isn’t right for me?

It is our intention to grow a collective who wants to  practice yoga together consistently, with renowned instructors in an exquisite, calming venue. Communities are most fulfilling when they gather on a regular basis which is why we believe in membership. For these reasons, we do not participate in Class Pass, Groupon, or any outside gym subscription or coupon site.

We do offer free weekly community classes, 10-class packs and a guest class rate of $20 (drop-in). Join a class soon to decide if membership may be a fit for you.

I had a previous membership, class package or account credit. Can I redeem it now?

A Denver institution for nearly two decades, Samadhi has touched many lives and we are grateful for the prior owner of Samadhi Center for Yoga. We recognize that during the Covid shut-down, early in 2020, some clients were left with unused class credits, monthly fees, or unfulfilled workshops/training. The pandemic was/is an unprecedented and difficult situation for everyone, including countless business owners worldwide.

As mentioned above, Samadhi Center for Yoga is permanently closed. Our new entity Samadhi Yoga Sangha, LLC, under new ownership, does not possess previous account histories and did not receive any payments associated with expired accounts. We hope those affected during the transition will join us for Sangha September, an entire month of completely FREE classes, as we welcome you back to the studio.

How is Samadhi Yoga Sangha addressing Covid now?

Please read our full Covid Safety Statement.

Having experienced the myriad negative effects of the virus first-hand, we feel an extraordinary sense of responsibility to keep our community and business safe.  All Samadhi teachers and staff had chosen Covid vaccination prior to re-entry into the community. Out of mutual protection for them, and our commitment to take the safest, most scientific approach for the greater good of all, we are asking our students to be immunized as well.

You can verify your fully vaccinated status by uploading a photo of your vaccination card to your confidential student profile or by presenting your card to the front desk, only once, before taking a class.

This was a thoughtful and well-researched decision. We regret this may exclude some friends who aren’t vaccinated, and we are committed to revisiting this policy as time and data evolves.  We will consider individual exemptions for those medically unable to receive the vaccine.  We respect freedom of choice and appreciate your respect of this policy.

What other safety precautions does Samadhi take?

We recommend the use of masks indoors when physical distancing is not possible.

We’ve invested in Molekule Air Purifiers for both practice rooms. We are limiting class sizes. All of our props are regularly laundered and disinfected. We recommend the use of paper-towels (you’ll find these in the practice rooms) when face-toward bolsters and blankets. We’ve recently deep cleaned and sanitized the entire studio, and will continue to maintain high standards for cleanliness to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff and teachers.

We are currently not requiring temperature checks prior to classes. Please refrain from coming to the studio if you are not feeling well.

Does Samadhi live-stream classes?

Samadhi does not live stream or record in-person classes. Besides those for security surveillance to monitor safety in the entry and boutique areas, there are no cameras installed in the practice rooms. We believe in-person classes should be free of the distractions to teachers and students that are posed by live-streaming. We will be recording videos separately and specifically for our on-demand library, which will be available soon for our members to use any time.

What tips do you have to ensure the best Samadhi experience?

  • Avoid eating heavily before practicing; eat a light snack 1-2 hours before class.

  • Arrive around 15 minutes early so that you have time to get situated and settled before class begins.

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. We have changing rooms available.

  • Yoga is practiced barefoot. Please remove socks and shoes; leave them in the entryway.

  • Blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters are available for you to use during class. Mats are available if you don’t own your own. We also sell quality yoga mats.

  • Check to be certain that your cell phone is off.

  • If you are new, connect with the instructor, particularly to share with them any injuries or concerns you may have.

  • Some teachers begin and or end class with a chant. This is meant to calm and center the mind and open the heart before we begin our yoga practice together. Feel free to join in, or simply listen, beginning to quiet your mind and ready yourself for yoga.

  • Always be good to yourself. Listen to your own body and follow your personal needs at all times. Never push yourself beyond your limits. Trust your intuition. Use your breath as your guide. If you cannot breathe smoothly and deeply, you may be working too hard. No one knows you like you! Be mindful throughout your whole practice. This mindfulness will grow in you and eventually extend out into your everyday life, opening doors for so much more.

  • Please clean your mat and used blocks, and put yoga props neatly away after class.

  • If you take a class that didn’t fit your needs, connect with our front desk staff; ask for class suggestions based on what you did and did not enjoy about the classes you’ve taken. We offer a wide variety of styles and teachers.
